BIRD WATCHING IN HOCKING HILLS OHIO

Friends,
Our resident
barn swallow is again making her nest in the eves over the front office. Every year she meticulously searches for just the right materials, builds a small but homey nest and lays her eggs all within a few feet of our front door. Each spring we take great joy in watching her sit on her eggs until finally her new family hatches before our eyes. Sometime in May, we will have beautiful new baby barn swallows entering the world and chirping for their first meal.
These new baby birds will be the welcoming committee for other feathered friends that will be returning to
Hocking Hills from a long winter in the warmer south. May 8th-10th is International Migratory Bird Weekend.

Birds have been fun this year. Being able to have an honorary pet barn swallow would be a nice thing. Pretty good that it comes back every year.

It is fun to see her every year. We all wait with anticipation for the new babies to emerge.
