Weddings at the Inn

Recently, I stood and watched a beautiful late afternoon wedding in our garden. As I waited for the ceremony to begin, I had time to reflect on other weddings we been blessed to host at our Inn. Each one has been small and intimate. And, most of them have been on different parts of our property. While several have been in the garden, the bride has entered from different directions. One came from the common room and strolled across the grass, another came down a flight of stairs at the Inn building and another walked up the path around the hammocks. Another couple was married at the TreeHouse cabin. And, Terry and I hiked down the road with our guests and were married at the “campers chapel” just down the road. When our Gathering Place is completed in early 2009, we will be able to have indoor weddings too.

And then, there’s the food portion of the wedding. We’ve done cookouts as people begin to arrive for the first night, followed by an elaborate five course meal the next day where they brought all their own table linens and decorations. The majority our wedding couples love the simplicity of our own fresh flower table decorations and opt not to do anything extra. The mother of the bride from our most recent wedding said, “The food was exceptional, as good as any we’ve eaten elsewhere. And, we travel the world.” What impressed them the most was the flexibility of Anthony, our Executive Chef, who didn’t make them select “just one entrĂ©e”, but offered guests three options. By the way, all of ours meals are served to the table, not buffet. We’ve hosted rehearsal dinner parties too.

This recent wedding party had a small three piece ensemble to play their wedding music. Others prefer the natural sounds of the birds, bees and the trees singing. What’s most fun is the couple has our undivided attention. Stephanie George, our Event Coordinator, does an exceptional job helping couples make decisions for such an important day in their lives. She helps with all the details. This recent couple arrived a day early with a few family members. Some took the extra day to go to the spa and be pampered, while others went on a hike.

The bottom line is it doesn’t matter what kind of wedding you desire, as long as you want it small, intimate and personal, the Inn & Spa At Cedar Falls is the place to have a most memorable event.
